Clap, clap, clap
Son muchas las formas de la indignación en estos días. Las condiciones de vida de los venezolanos han cambiado drásticamente en muy poco tiempo y la gente ha aprendido a adaptarse rápidamente a todo, y ha tenido que buscar las soluciones que sean para poder mantenerse a flote. El fenómeno de miles de venezolanos atravesando la frontera de Colombia para, caminando, ir a abastecerse de los productos básicos en el vecino país es apenas una de las tantas cosas que se ven obligados a hacer los venezolanos. Pero el alivio de tener asegurada la comida por unos días vale el sacrificio. Lo mismo pasa con los famosos Clap (Comités Locales de Abastecimiento y Producción), uno más de los muchos planes que idea el gobierno semanalmente para sacar al país de la guerra económica de la que, por supuesto, la derecha, el imperio, la oposición… son responsables. Este nuevo sistema pretende resolver el problema de los llamados bachaqueros (quienes venden productos en el mercado negro a precios astronómicos), distribuyendo los productos regulados casa por casa. Desafortunadamente, hay varios problemas con esto. Primero, ¿a quién le resuelve la vida dos paquetes de harina, un aceite y un kilo de azúcar cada dos o tres meses? Segundo, ¿qué tipo de solución es una bolsa de comida ante las verdaderas causas del problema: una economía destruida, una inflación galopante, una moneda que no vale nada, ¿un salario mínimo que es un chiste, etc.? Y tercero, y aquí viene la indignación: ¿cómo es posible que el gobierno venga a dárselas de salvador del pueblo cuando lo más normal del mundo sería que todos esos productos básicos se encontraran en los anaqueles de cada supermercado del país? Pero no es así, la gente tiene que alegrarse de recibir la bolsa del Clap porque hace meses que no se toman un café con azúcar o que comen arroz. Esa es la peor burla, la gran indignación, que se haya llegado a tener que agradecer que te lleven una bolsa de comida los mismos que te han vaciado la vida, no solo de alimentación, salud y seguridad, sino también de dignidad. Un gran aplauso para esta “revolución del sistema distributivo”. Desafortunadamente, ese cafecito endulzado con el azúcar del Clap no logrará quitarle la amargura a nadie.
The outrage has many faces in Venezuela these days. The circumstances of the country have changed dramatically in a short period of time, and people had to adapt quickly to stay afloat. The fact that thousands of people have crossed the border, walking, to buy food in Colombia is one of many things they have to do to be able to survive. But the relief they feel after securing some food for a few days is worth the sacrifice. The same happens with the new “organizations for local supply and production” known by its Spanish acronym: Clap. This is one of many plans the Government comes up with all the time to help the country fight the economic war caused, of course, by the right wing, the imperialism, the opposition… With this new system they expect to solve the problem of the “bachaqueros” (people who resell products in the black market) distributing regulated items house by house. Unfortunately, there a few problems with this idea. First, ¿are a few products (for example two kilos of corn flour, a bottle of oil, and a kilo of sugar) delivered every two or three months enough to feed a whole family? Second, ¿what kind a solution a bag of food is when the real causes of the problem are a destroyed economy, an out of control inflation, a minimum wage that is just a joke, etc.? And third, and here comes the outrage, ¿how can the government act like they are the heroes when in a normal situation you should be able to walk in a supermarket and buy the basic stuff you need? But that’s not the case, and people cheer up when they get their Clap bag because they haven’t eaten rice, or sweeten their coffee in months. And that’s a reason to feel outrage: the fact that they feel grateful to the same people who have emptied their lives not only of food, medicine, or work, but also of dignity. A huge clap to this new “wonderful” idea. Sadly, that coffee sweetened with the sugar from a Clap bag won’t eliminate their bitterness.
